[Try It Out] Ole Henriksen, YSL, Urban Decay, Chanel

Hi,

Here's another post on small samples I tried. This time I'm using the photo of the actual product instead of the sample size, I think this will be more helpful. Let's jump right in:

1. Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation

Photo from Sephora.ca
This is an oil free perfecting creme. It claims to be oil-free, lightweight moisturizer that nourishes skin as it gently exfoliates and fades dark spots.

Unfortunately, I had an allergic reaction with this product. My face was really red, but it got back to normal after two days of  not using this product. I'm not sure what ingredient caused the allergic reaction but  if you have sensitive skin like me, I suggest staying away from this .

Price:  $18( 0.5 oz), $48 (1.7 oz) , $78 (3 oz)
Rating: 1/5 ( It really is oil-free)
Would I purchase it: 0/5( it doesn't work for me)

2. YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain – Rebel Nudes

Photo from Sephora.ca
This product clams to be a revolutionary nude glossy stain with all-day 3D luminous effect.
The shade I tried out is 107 Naughty Mauve rose mauve. It's a nice neutral pinky mauvey color. I like that that is not too sticky. It smells nice like any other YSL lip product, it has the same floral scent. Since it is a stain, I expect it to be long wearing. After drinking and eating, the gloss came off but there's still hints of color on the lips. I don't think it is actually all day long wearing. However, it is not drying at all, some glossy stains becomes drying after the gloss wears off, but this one does not dry out the lips.

I think this product (at least this shade) is suitable for people who wants to experiment with lip stains but does not want the super bold or pigmented lip stains. It has a natural hint of the color, but feels like a lipgloss with extra color.

Price: $38 0.2 oz
Rating: 4/5

Would I purchase it: 4/5

3. Urban Decay- Revolution High-Color Lipgloss

Photo from Sephora.ca

This is a high-coverage, ultra-pigmented lip gloss. I tried it out in the shade Bitter Sweet, which is a bright purple as you can see in the picture above. Unlike the YSL glossy stain I just talked about, this one is highly pigmented with bold colors. I am less familiar with this types of lip product because I am not a big fan of pigmented lip gloss. This is similar to a liquid lipstick. The only difference is that it does not dry out, it always have the gloss on that feels "wet". I find that this formula is quite sticky, I had to be really careful so that my hair does not get caught on the gloss.

This is my first time trying a purple lip, I'm not quite sure about this color. Maybe because it is too bright! I think this is a pretty nice lip gloss, just not for me. I'll give the other shades a try too, maybe it's just the color.

Price:  $26 (0.17 oz)
Rating: 4/5
Would I purchase it: 2.5/5 (not this shade)

4. Chanel-Hydra Beauty Creme

Photo from Chanel.com
The following products are from the recent Chanel skin care line. This beauty cream is supposed to provide hydration, protection, radiance. The company says that this product is the embellishing moisturizer for women in search of intense hydration backed by advanced antioxidant protection. It helps protect their beauty and restore their skin's radiance, while delivering absolute comfort.
I find this moisturizer too sticky. It does not absorb as quickly nor easily as I expected. I am not a big fan of the scent.  Unfortunately, it broke me out on the forehead and the chin. My face was really itchy after using it. I am not sure what ingredient caused this because I don't recall seeing "alcohol" in the ingredient list.

Price: $90 (50 g)
Rating: 1/5
Would I purchase it: 0/5

5. CHANEL-Hydra Beauty Micro Serum

Photo from Chanel.com
Here's a description from Chanel.
The first serum composed of camellia micro-droplets is based on an exclusive patented technology derived from Microfluidics. This revolutionary technology makes it possible to create a formula containing droplets of active ingredients whose purity remains intact until the moment of application.
It claims to continuously hydrate for 24 hours and perfectly protect the skin. Unlike the moisturizer, I really enjoyed this serum. It is moisturizing, not sticky. I can't tell if it keeps my skin hydrated for 24hrs. I usually use this at night before bed, I did not wake up with a dry face.  I'm not sure if I am going to purchase this right away because of the price tag but I also have other serum this does the same thing.

Price: $125 30ml
Rating: 4/5
Would I purchase it: 2.5/5

Okay, that's everything I have for this post. Have you try something new recently? What else should I try next?

Yours Truly,

Ting

[Try it out] Nivea, Origins, Burt's Bees

Hi!

This is the first post of the[Try it out] series! I tried out 3 new products this week. For every product I tried, I will post a picture, tell you the name of the product( obviously), my thoughts, price of the full sized item, my ratings, and whether I want to purchase the full size product.

1) Nivea Q10 Plus Anti-wrinkle Serum Pearls

Like the name suggested, this is an anti wrinkle serum. The packaging is interesting for a sample like this. The idea is to squeeze out the product like you would with the actual bottle. Through squeezing, the yellow beads inside will break and turn into a paste.

I couldn't tell if it's anti aging, since I don't have any sign of aging . I use this under my normal face moisturizer and it helps the absorption of my moisturizer. Honestly, I was surprised that it does not break me out or give me a reaction.  I said that because the scent is so strong; It actually reminds me of men's cologne.

Price: $16.77 CAD 40ML
Rating: 3/5
Would I purchase it: 1/5

2) Origins GinZing Coffee Booster Eye Cream

It claims to be a "refreshing rye cream to brighten and depuff". Origins described it "like a shot of espresso for tired eyes". So as I open up the packaging, I was expecting the smell of coffee. But there was no coffee scent at all. ( Am I nose blind??)

I like how light weight the cream is, but it really feels moisturizing and refreshing.  The cream is not too thick so it is suitable for summer too. I have been staying up late for assignments, I noticed how it brightens up my under eye For eye cream, a little goes a long way. I have been using this product day and night everyday for about a week, I still have more product left.

Price: $23 CAD 0.5 oz
Rating 4.5/5
Would I purchase it : 5/5

3) Burt's Bees intense hydration night cream with clary sage

It is a face cream, but I already had moisturizer on my face, so I decided to try it out on the driest part of my body, which are my feet and legs.

I love how the scent is not fake nor powerful. It has a light musky feeling, very relaxing and calming.
As I massage the product into my skin, I noticed how the product itself is not greasy, heavy or sticky. It absorbs quickly without any residue feeling but my skin feel moisturized.

This tiny pack lasted about 3 day, I think it's a good sample size because I got to use it more than once.

Price: $29.99 CAD 50g
Rating: 5/5
Would I purchase it: 4/5 ( I would, not now, I have too much creams to finish up)

I hope you enjoyed the mini reviews and find them helpful.  Stay tuned for net week, with more mini review coming.

Yours truly,
Ting

New Series+ Updates!

Hello!

I am going to start a new series called [Try it Out]. I was going through my makeup/ skin care stash and realized how much sample packs I have been hoarding. I love getting samples to try things out, but sometimes there are just too many that I end up forgetting them.

Look! This is just half the stash I own....

I went through everything, threw away the expired ones and put the rest together. I then have an idea to start a new blog post category. Since those samples are tiny, usually not enough to do a full review, I will do some first impressions, or mini review if I have enough product. I will then tell you whether I think it is worth it to get a full size and test the product out more. I will post at least once each week, depending on how big the samples are.

I am excited for this, I can finally put the samples through the test! Let me know if this is something you want to see. If you have a better name for the category, let me know too! I'll try to think of a better and more creative name. See you soon in the upcoming posts.

I know I have not been posting as often. I have been traveling and it is also the mid to end of the semester in my school, which is super busy! However, I am still posting on Instagram (@judyy116) and Twitter (@jtingsdiary). Follow me there to get updates, mini hauls, food photos!

The post on my Seattle Trip and Seattle haul is coming, I promise!! It makes me so happy that someone is messaging me and asking why those posts are not up yet! Thank you!!

Yours Truly,

Ting
