[Review] Schick Hydro Silk TrimStyle

Hello!

Today I have something a little different to talk about! I received two Schick Hydro Silk TrimStyle razor and bikini trimmers from Toronto Beauty Reviews and Writing Whimsy.

I think it is a great concept, having the trimmer on one end and the blades on the other. It makes it easier to travel too.

The Razor

This razor has 5 sharp blades, the white dots along the rim of the blades are moisturizing beads. They add moisture when it touches damp skin which makes the skin smooth after shaving. I love their blades, it does not irritate my sensitive skin. Because the blades are so sharp, you don't need to go back and forth on the skin, so it decreases the chance of ingrown hair, razor burns and bumps.

The little white bumpy thing located right before the blue handle is actually a stand for the razor, so when you put the razor down the blades are not touching the surface. This is beneficial when you are air drying your razor after u

It's recommended that you replace the razor every 3 month, this razor is compatible with other Schlick Hydro razor replacement heads.

The Trimmer

The trimming side was interesting, I was not familiar with it at first ,but it is not as scary as it looks. The little cap allow the trimmer to have 3 different trim level for different hair length. This side is also fully waterproofed even though it requires a battery. The set came with a battery!

Comments
One thing that needs improvement is that I wish the blades came with a lid.

Ratings
I'll give it a 4! I think it is a cool concept. This 2 in 1 Silk Trim style allow you to use a razor and a trimmer on the same device.  I like the razor more than the trimmer, I don't really need or use a trimmer.

You have to try it out and let me know what you think! Therefore, I will be giving away the extra set of Schick Hydro Silk Trim Style in my upcoming giveaway.

Yours truly,

Ting

July 2015 Favorites

Hello!

Wow, I really can't believe it is almost August! This means that I'm almost done with school and I get to travel again! Let's get started

Here are my July favorites

Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess

I received this in my July IPSY Glam bag this month and I absolutely love it, I have been using it almost every day after I got it. You can read my review (here), if you haven't already.

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream with SPF 35

I have it in the shade light. I bought this with the Sephora superstar set during Christmas. I'm really happy this is full size! I think I've never mentioned this product on my blog before ( I'm not sure why). Sometimes I use it everyday, sometimes I don't even go near it. The reason is that the bb cream is quite thick, unlike other bb creams that's light weight and runny. I found that it is easy to get too cakey if you apply with your hands or brush. My favorite way to apply it is with my beauty blender. It gives nice coverage, brightens up my complexion and also provide sun protection( very important!!!)  Even though it has SPF, it doesn't give me that white cast when I take flash photo.

With the beauty blender, I can achieve a light weight and medium coverage with the bb cream. I would say it's quite long lasting.

Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti
Yes it's straight up orange, but it's quite sheer. So when you apply it,  you natural lip color with peek through, for me it creates more of a orangey red color!!!  I love it!

If you are not familiar with Revlon Lip Butter, they are really creamy and most of the color are quite sheer.  Most of them have sparkly glitter but this particular one is just glossy.

CoTz- Face Natural SPF 40

I did a review on this in my May IPSY Glam bag, read it (here) if you haven already. I have been using this because I've been going to the beach and lake. This is waterproof so I didn't need to worry about it sliding off my face.  This has a sheer coverage but the product is quite thick. I like to apply this with my beauty blender because it is thick and has the consistency of Benefit Porefessional. I would not use this everyday because I typically need more coverage. However, I think this is great in the summer because it is waterproofed and it has SPF.

Be a Bombshell Lip Balm in Ruby

I also got this in my July IPSY Glam bag (here). I have this in my makeup bag since I got it. I really like the sheer coverage with red tint.

Keratherapy Keratin Infused Daily Smoothing Cream

I received this in my June Glam Bag, which I never wrote a post about (Sorry! I never got around to write it, and I think it's too late now, but I have a instagram photo of it here). I hated this product initially because it drives me crazy receiving hair products. However, I read the label and it says that it shortens hair drying time so I gave it a go. Guess what? It actually works! I like to twist my hair up with the towel after I wash them ( just like in the salon) and I'll usually leave it up for a few minutes so I can moisturize my face first. Then I will use squeeze some out and apply to my hair. I start from the end and move up.  It helps that I don't need to spend that much time drying my hair!

That's all for my July favorites. I just realized many things are from my IPSY Glam bag, that means i am actually using those products and they actually have good products! ( not sponsored, I promise!) August is goi to be exciting, I can't wait!

Share with me what you have been loving this month on my Instagram ( @judyy116) and Twitter (@jtingsdiary) or the comments down below!

Ting

July IPSY Glam Bag Unboxing

Hello!

I finally received my June IPSY bag . This month I didn't really see any sneak peak photos via IPSY's  Instagram page, so everything is a surprise to me.

It's about mid summer now, and it is all about vibrant color and beach themed. I think this is the first time, I feel that IPSY really captured the essence of the related month, also I can see a theme connection between all the items in my bag. This is off to a pretty good start!

Octavio La Playa Salt Spray (2 fl.oz)

According to the company description, this is a sea salt spray infused with Algae Extract for creating natural texture and volume to the hair. This is made in the USA and has the bunny sign that says "no animal testing"!

I love the packaging, it looks clean and reminds me of Santorini. The clean white packaging and the blueish writings! The product has a fresh scent which I really like.

I mentioned it before, I really don't like getting hair products. Also, I got a few sea salt sprays from other brands, honestly, they just sit there in my vanity, few months a I said no to hair products in my IPSY Quiz, but I am still getting in every week. If anyone knows how to avoid it, please let me know!!!!

Having said that, this is a good product. Compared to other sea salt spray I tried before, this does not leave a sticky feeling in my hair. I really recommend this to people who likes sea salt spray!

Size: My sample is 2 fl. oz, full size is 4 fl. oz
Price: $15.50 (4 fl.oz)
Place: You can find it on octaviomolinahair.com

Aurora Gel Effect Nail Lacquer

I was so excited when I see this in the bag. I have always wanted to try gel nail polish, but I never bought the UV lamp for the polish. I did not really know what color this polish is, it looks red at first glance, then it looks coral and hot pink! The name of the color is: 4 Alarm Fire #112. (Certainly didn't help me decide what color it was)What ever the color is, I really love it for the hot summer days.

It has a pretty standard nail polish bottle, nothing fancy, just simple. (Which is great!) The brush is the right size and length, not too narrow, not too wide! The formula is smooth, easy to apply without streaks.

On the Aurora website, it says to use the Gel Effect Top Coat for optimal results, I wish that IPSY would include a small Top Coat, to make the experience more complete.

Size: 0.42 fl. oz (12 ml)
Price: $12

Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator

It is a exfoliating cleanser enriched with papaya, micro-crystals and Aloe. According to the company website, it is a powerful scrub that brightens, exfoliates and cleanses gently with instant results for soft, smooth and radiant skin. It's great for men and women, even if you have sensitive skin( like me!) This product is made in Canada! It's 99% natural (very precise! haha), 100% vegan. Not tested on animals!

I tried it on my hand right away. I was able to feel the micro beads but it is not too harsh, it did not leave any red scrubbing mark on my hand. Again, it has a fresh scent, I don't really know how to describe it. The scent is soft, maybe from the papaya?!

I think this product is perfect for summer because I exfoliate a little more often in summer. It's nice and gentle and does not have a overpowering fragrance. I would not mind receiving something from Vasanti in the future!

Size:Mine is 20g and the full size is 120g (6 month supply)
Price: $34 CAD (120g)

Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer in Park Ave Princess

Description on Sephora "An oil-free bronzer that fuses earthly minerals with naturally-derived ingredients for a natural-looking finish. It contains Skinvigorating™ ingredients like vitamins A and E, which act as antioxidants. It's infused with mineral pigments that are known for their soothing and softening properties. " - Sephora.ca

I have tried the amazonian clay blushes from Tarte before, but I never bought them. I am really excited to get this bronzer !!

The packaging is a really cute compact. It's plastic, and the top has a crocodile texture. However, there's no mirror inside, I know that the full sized product has it. I wish there's a mirror in it, but since the compact is quite small, the mirror probably won't be really useful anyways.

The Park Avenue Princess shade is beautiful. It's a highly pearled light yellow gold. I think it's a pretty light color, it's really difficult to put on too much. Basically fool proof! I would use this as a blush/bronze color when I don't want too much product on my face. It creates a beautiful and natural glow because it does not have chunky glitter pieces.

Size: Mine is 0.11oz Full size is 0.32 oz.
Price: $36 CAD (0.32oz)
Place: Sephora.ca/ /tartecosmetics.com

Left: Tarte Bronzer/ Right: Be a Bombshell Lip Balm

Be a Bombshell Lip Balm in Ruby

I received an eye base from Be A Bombshell cosmetics before, it has really good quality. So I have high expectation for this product.

This is a tinted moisturizing lip balm. The packaging is just like a typical lip balm. There's no fragrance and no plastic smell. The texture is creamy and smooth but not oily. It is not super long lasting, but it's expected with a lip balm.

The pigmentation is on the sheer side. As in when I swatched on my hand, it does not look like the color in the tube. This is supposed to be a true warm red color. Because it's sheer, your natural lip color will peek through when you apply it, but I really enjoy the color. This is going to be in my summer makeup bag for sure.

Details:
Size: 0.16 oz I believe this is a full size
Price: $14
Place: beabombshellcosmetics.com

This is a pretty good month for me. I love all the products. I think they have really good quality.

This is going to be a...

❤️❤️❤️❤️.5

I only give it at 4.5/5 because I really didn't like receiving that sea salt spray. It's a really good spray, and I am using it, I am just not too fond of continuously receiving sea salt hair texture spray. Again, I need to emphasize that if you are a texture spray user, you will really enjoy it!

I hope you enjoy reading what I got in my July bag, If you are subscribed to IPSY, what did you get in your July bag? Do you like it?

That's all for this post, see you again next time!

Yours Truly,

Ting

[Try it out] Nivea, Origins, Burt's Bees

Hi!

This is the first post of the[Try it out] series! I tried out 3 new products this week. For every product I tried, I will post a picture, tell you the name of the product( obviously), my thoughts, price of the full sized item, my ratings, and whether I want to purchase the full size product.

1) Nivea Q10 Plus Anti-wrinkle Serum Pearls

Like the name suggested, this is an anti wrinkle serum. The packaging is interesting for a sample like this. The idea is to squeeze out the product like you would with the actual bottle. Through squeezing, the yellow beads inside will break and turn into a paste.

I couldn't tell if it's anti aging, since I don't have any sign of aging . I use this under my normal face moisturizer and it helps the absorption of my moisturizer. Honestly, I was surprised that it does not break me out or give me a reaction.  I said that because the scent is so strong; It actually reminds me of men's cologne.

Price: $16.77 CAD 40ML
Rating: 3/5
Would I purchase it: 1/5

2) Origins GinZing Coffee Booster Eye Cream

It claims to be a "refreshing rye cream to brighten and depuff". Origins described it "like a shot of espresso for tired eyes". So as I open up the packaging, I was expecting the smell of coffee. But there was no coffee scent at all. ( Am I nose blind??)

I like how light weight the cream is, but it really feels moisturizing and refreshing.  The cream is not too thick so it is suitable for summer too. I have been staying up late for assignments, I noticed how it brightens up my under eye For eye cream, a little goes a long way. I have been using this product day and night everyday for about a week, I still have more product left.

Price: $23 CAD 0.5 oz
Rating 4.5/5
Would I purchase it : 5/5

3) Burt's Bees intense hydration night cream with clary sage

It is a face cream, but I already had moisturizer on my face, so I decided to try it out on the driest part of my body, which are my feet and legs.

I love how the scent is not fake nor powerful. It has a light musky feeling, very relaxing and calming.
As I massage the product into my skin, I noticed how the product itself is not greasy, heavy or sticky. It absorbs quickly without any residue feeling but my skin feel moisturized.

This tiny pack lasted about 3 day, I think it's a good sample size because I got to use it more than once.

Price: $29.99 CAD 50g
Rating: 5/5
Would I purchase it: 4/5 ( I would, not now, I have too much creams to finish up)

I hope you enjoyed the mini reviews and find them helpful.  Stay tuned for net week, with more mini review coming.

Yours truly,
Ting

New Series+ Updates!

Hello!

I am going to start a new series called [Try it Out]. I was going through my makeup/ skin care stash and realized how much sample packs I have been hoarding. I love getting samples to try things out, but sometimes there are just too many that I end up forgetting them.

Look! This is just half the stash I own....

I went through everything, threw away the expired ones and put the rest together. I then have an idea to start a new blog post category. Since those samples are tiny, usually not enough to do a full review, I will do some first impressions, or mini review if I have enough product. I will then tell you whether I think it is worth it to get a full size and test the product out more. I will post at least once each week, depending on how big the samples are.

I am excited for this, I can finally put the samples through the test! Let me know if this is something you want to see. If you have a better name for the category, let me know too! I'll try to think of a better and more creative name. See you soon in the upcoming posts.

I know I have not been posting as often. I have been traveling and it is also the mid to end of the semester in my school, which is super busy! However, I am still posting on Instagram (@judyy116) and Twitter (@jtingsdiary). Follow me there to get updates, mini hauls, food photos!

The post on my Seattle Trip and Seattle haul is coming, I promise!! It makes me so happy that someone is messaging me and asking why those posts are not up yet! Thank you!!

Yours Truly,

Ting

June 2015 Favorites

Hello Hello!

It has been so long since I last wrote a blog post. It feels so good to be back! Even though I have not been posting any blog posts but I have been posting on Instagram! (@judyy116)

The month of June was hectic for me; meetings, midterm, travel....The weather was nice tho, maybe a little too nice (?!) I discovered some new favorites because of the HOT weather and I can't wait to share them with you.

1. Biore Powder Sheets

This is something I discovered in Taiwan and it has been a game changer. The product itself is like makeup remover sheets. The concept behind this product is like a "wet wipe" but when it dries, it feels like you applied powder. It also has a refreshing scent, floral or fruity. I chose the floral one. I first got it for the gym, to prevent myself from smelling bad after a workout. However, since it's super hot out, I actually bring it with me everywhere. It feels like "dry shampoo" but for your body, as it keeps you feel clean, smelling good! I have never seen this product in Canada, so I will definitely stock up when I travel to Taiwan next time.

2. Maybelline Master Conceal

I know this product has been out for awhile now, but I just got it last month. It was on sale, I couldn't resist. Even though I love my Match Perfect from Rimmel, I just wanted to explore something different. A little goes a long way with this product, I have been using my Beauty Blender to press it into my skin, and it gives a flawless and long lasting coverage. I think this product is too thick to use with a brush or finger and it can easily cake up if you use too much or with the wrong tool.

3. Skin Aqua SARAFIT Sunscreen SPF 50+

This has to be my favorite discovery this month. I have been on a hunt for sunscreen over the last two month. I never really like sunscreen, because of the texture and the scent and after feeling. However, this product is NOTHING like that.

It does not have the sunscreen smell, and it absorbs really fast without any sticky feeling. It feels moisturizing but very lightweight. It goes well underneath makeup. I applied a layer of foundation over the sunscreen and it was not cakey at all!!! (Hooray!) Also, it has no alcohol in it and it does not irritate my sensitive skin. In addition, it is sweat proof and waterproof, which means it's safe to use while working out or going to the beach!!! Don't worry, the sunscreen can be simply removed with facial soap or makeup remover.

This can be used on your body too! It is really inexpensive, less than $10 CDN (Around $250NTD). But again, I don't think this is available in Canada, so this will be on my stock up list for my trip in August.

4. Benefit Majorette Blush

Photo from Sephora.ca

I have been really loving "orange" everything. Orange blush, lipstick, even purse( hehehe). This adds such a beautiful flush to the face and I love the scent. Some people think that the scent is too much but I don't mind it at all.

I don't have my own photo to show you because I only have it in a sample container from Sephora. ( I am definitely going to purchase the full size even though it is gigantic.) I will include a swatch photo here.

Top: Benefit Majorette/ Bottom: Colourpop Fox

5. Colorpop blush in Fox

I haul this in my last post, if you haven't read it, click here. This gives a natural pinky flush. It is neutral enough to go with many different looks and lip colors. I just love it!

6. Colorpop lippie stix in Clique
Again, this was hauled in my last post. It is a true orangey red color that is so perfect for summer. I bet you know why I love it so much (it's orange, duh!) It's so bright it just pop! I love to wear this when everything else is neutral, a little of the color just screams summer!!! This has a "matte" formula that is not drying at all, so I tend to forget it is matte. However, the color does transfer, so be careful when you are kissing around.

Top: Clique/ Bottom: Frida

7. Colorpop lippie stix in Frida
This is my go to not-so-nude nude color, or as I call it the " summer nude". It has a satin finish so it does not dries out my lips. This color is transferable but it does stain the lips so you won't end up with patchy colors at the end.

Here are all my favorites for June 2015. What have you been loving in June? Share with me in the comments below, twitter (@jtingsdiary) or at instagram (@judyy116). Also let me know what other topics you want to see. I was wondering if I should do a shoes or purse haul(yes, I have been shopping), let me know! I hope you are enjoying the weather and having an awesome summer!

Yours truly,

Ting.
