First Chanel Makeup Haul of 2017!

Happy new year!

Even though January is more than half way done but it's still January! I thought it would be nice to start of the year with a Chanel makeup haul. Just like last year, I also got a limited edition Chanel product as my gift to myself #Januarybaby. However, it is even more special this year because this item is not available in Canada, it's only available in Asia and USA. Let's get started.

Camelia de Chanel- Illuminating Powder 香奈兒山茶花亮彩盤

Even the packaging is special, instead of the black and white packaging, it is deep red/ burgundy with black Chanel logo. It has a small moon shaped brush that's a little curved, I guess it's to fit the shape of the cheeks. The bristles are pretty soft but honestly, I never use the brush provided. I always take out the brush and the little black velvet cover first because I don't want to get them "dirty".

Anyways, here's the actual product.  Look at it, it's so pretty! It's Chanel's signature camelia. I don't know if I will ever actually use it, I'm so torn, it's so pretty so I don't want to ruin it. When I went to Asia earlier this year, I specifically went to a Chanel boutique to look for this, I didn't know only 2 stores that sells this product. I tried it on in the store and it's pretty on the cheeks too.

Rouge Coco Lip Stick - 434 Mademoiselle

This is not a new product, but I picked this up during the holidays while gift shopping. This color looks pretty ordinary in the tube but when I tried it out, it's a pretty brownish pink nude that goes with a lot of different skin tones. I remember wearing really light makeup when I tried it on the store and fell in love.

That's all for this haul, I know there's not much products but I have been on a no buy and really haven't bought any makeup. I hope you enjoyed this long due haul and have a great year!

Yours truly,

Ting

[Collection] Part 7: Line 'em Lips 2016

Hello,

We are almost at the end of my entire makeup collection. Phew...Okay for Part 7, I am sharing my lip liners collection. This post will be a short one but spoiler alert, next part will be the lipsticks. (it's going to be crazy!)

Marc Jacobs-Poutliner Longwear Lip Liner Pencil ( Primrose 304  )
  • This is such a pretty nude/ pink color! The color is long lasting, it doesn't slide around on the lips. I find it a little dry when I apply it all over the lips, so I don't recommend wearing this on its own.

[Collection] Part 5: Mascara Collection 2016

Hello,

Welcome to part 5 of my collection. Today I'm sharing with you my current mascara collection. I'm so surprised I have this many mascaras, I don't even use mascara that often. My struggle with mascara is that, my lashes are really soft and stubborn. My lashes fall back down after applying mascara. Even though it looks like I have a lot of mascaras, but I'm almost done with some of them here. Name with a * will be out of my collection within 2 weeks.

[Collection] Part 4: Bronzers, Highlighters and Blushes Collection 2016

Hello,

Hmm...part 4...I actually do have way too much make up. I always know I have a lot, but when I take them all out, categorize them, and carefully go through the whole collection; I was really surprised and overwhelmed by how much I have. Through the process I discovered several products I totally forgot about. I encourage you all to go through your collection, take out expired products, giveaway products you don't use, you might discover some old favorites you forgot about. Okay, let's get started.

Bronzers and Highlighters

Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer (in Park Avenue Princess)

Benefit Watt's UP
  • I'm not a big fan of this product, I find that it clings on to my dry patches. Especially on my nose where it tends to flake up, this product only enhances the look of the dryness. The color is beautiful tho, I just don't like how it applies on me.
Benefit Dandelion Shy Beam
  • I like this one more than the Watt's Up. It adds such a beautiful glow without looking shimmery/ glittery. It truly looks like a natural glow
Chanel- Lumiere Highlighting Blush (in 12 Coups De Minuit)
Smashbox- Step by Step Contour Kit

  • As you can see the contour shade on the very left has hit pan because I love it so much. I also love how natural looking the highlighter looks. Again, not glitters/ shimmers it just brightens up the area you applied it to. As of the bronzer in the center, I don't remember using it at all. I wish I can just purchase a refill of the contour shade.
Blushes

Left to right: color pop-> Nars

Colour pop- Super shock cheek (in Fox)
  • Here's a link 1 to the posts I talked about this blush
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush (in Blissful)
  • By now you are probably familiar with Tarte's blushes. Easily blendable, last all day and with beautiful color. This one here is the newest to my collection and the formula is just the like otheres.
Benefit BeneTint
  • I don't really reach for this anymore. I find it hard to use on the cheeks as it dries too fast and often time it leaves a red/ unblended mark on my face. The color is really pretty and it smells really good, I prefer to use them on my lips instead of cheeks.
Chanel- Sunkiss Ribbon Blush
  • check out my review of the blush here
Chanel- Cream Blush (in 65 Affinite)
  • I'm sad that Chanel discontinued their cream blushes. This shade is so natural as it gives the illusion of your natural blush after a work out or being in the cold. A little goes a long way with this formula but it can be blended out really easily, so don't worry if you accidentally put on too much.
Nars Blush (in Orgasm)
  • This is supposedly Nars best selling blush. I have to say, I agree, the color is gorgeous. However,  I hardly use it because it is super glittery, I can't handle it!
That is all for the part 4 of my makeup collection. As you probably noticed, my most used from the bronzer/ highlighter categories are the Smashbox step by step contour kit and the Chanel highlighting blush (actually a highlight) and my most used blush has to be the Colour Pop blush.

[Collection] Part 3: All About That Face 2016

Hello,

I hope you are enjoying my collection series so far. Part 3 of my collection continues to be about face makeup products, so this post will include primers, concealers, and powders. Let's get started right away!

(P. S. I added * to products I'm almost done with)

Primers

*1) Smashbox- Photo Finish Oil Free Foundation Primer

  • It's a pore filling primer, it works really well. It's just like Benefit's porefessional except this is completely clear.

*2) Avance+ Mattifying Emulsion- Pore Refiner

  • It smells awesome! I'm not quite sure if this is just skincare. I will reach for this when my face is dry and my pores are really visible.

3) MUFE- Step1 Hydrating Primer
  • This is great during winter when my face is extra dry, it prevents my skin from flaking without being oily
4) Estee Lauder- Matte Perfecting Primer

  • Like the name suggested, it's a mattifying primer. It is pretty hydrating though, it feels really nice on the skin. I don't think it actually mattify my skin through out the day.

5) Maybelline- Baby Skin Instant Pink Transformer

  • This is really different from all other primers I have, it's actually pink. It brightens up the complexion and has SPF. I also don't reach for this, I guess it doesn't really wow me.

6) Estee Edit- Pore Vanishing Stick
  • My new favorite primer, it glides on so smoothly and fills up my pores. I included this in a couple of my favorites, you can check out my review there.
7) Chanel- Le Blanc Light Creator Brightening Makeup Base
  • Click here for my short review on this primer
*8) Smashbox- 24 hour photo finish shadow primer

  • I find the formula quite thick. Nothing much to say about it because I don't usually put primer on my lids.

Concealers

1) Maybelline Cover Stick

  • It is really creamy and coverage is really good. However, this shade does not match me that well, too light on me!

2) Bobbi Brown- Creamy Concealer Kit (Warm Ivory)

  • It is super creamy and has great coverage. It melts into the skin easily, I recommend applying this with your fingers so the product will melt into the skin faster and more even. Also, because it is a cream product so I make sure I set it with powder properly.

3) Cover Girl+ Olay- Eye Concealer

  • I don't reach for this product at all. The color is orange based which allows the dark circles to be covered easily. Other than that, I don't find this concealer too special.

*4) Rimmel London- Match Perfection Concealer and highlighter (shade 230 Fair/ Light)
  • My all time favorite concealer, and it is super affordable too!

Powders

1) Rimmel London- Stay Matte Press Powder (Translucent)

  • As you can see, the whole thing is beat up. The lid broke in half, the writings on the cover was rubbed off. The powder hit pan awhile ago, but till now I still can't finish it. The only thing I don't like is the packaging, other than that I love this powder!

2) Etude House- Dreaming Swan Veiling Pact SPF 25

  • Honestly, I bought this for the packaging. This is from the swan lake collection from Etude house. It's just a normal blotting powder nothing fancy.

3) ELF Cosmetics- Tone Correcting Powder (Cool)

  • Another powder I really like is this ELF tone correcting powder. It evens out my skin tone nicely, and the powder is pretty smooth. This was only $3!

There you go, all about that face! I hope you enjoyed this post, I have quite a lot of primers and I choose them based on the needs of my skin that day but I usually use pore erasing/ filling primers. As for concealer, my favorite has always been the Rimmel London one from the drug store. I finished at least 3 tubes, and every time I buy a new one the packaging changes. My favorite setting powders are also from the drug store, again Rimmel London and also the ELF powder. I've gone through 2 of the ELF powder already!

[Collection] Part 1: Eyeshadow Palettes 2016

Hello,

This is Part 1 of my makeup collection. There will be a slight change to my collection posts, my original plan was to share my collection through brands. I then realized for many brands I actually only have one product each, so I decided to divide the post by categories now! Anyways, today is all about my eyeshadow palettes. It's going to be a short one, I don't have that many palettes but these are more than enough!

Urban Decay Naked 3

I think this might be my first high end palette! I just couldn't resist the beautiful rosey shades. The colors are so beautiful to look at but honestly, I don't usually reach for this palette :(

[Collection] My Chanel Beauty Collection 2016

Hello!

I was asked to share my makeup collection, I don't have that big of a collection like the Youtubers but for an average person, I do have way too much makeup. (Shame) Anyways, I decided to split the collection up by brands. Let's kick it off with my (fast growing) Chanel Collection. Many of Chanel's collections are limited edition, and honestly I think that's the reason why my collection is growing so fast.  I'll put a little *sign for those products that were limited editions or items that you can no longer find.

This is going to be a long post but here we go....
An overview, there's a few products that are not in the picture.

[Haul] Sephora VIB Sale + Chanel Beauty

Hello!

As you probably know, Sephora had their Spring VIB sale. It was 15% for VIB Rouge and VIB members! I picked up a couple things from the sale and also a few things from Chanel.

Let's start with the things I got from Sephora.

For VIB Rouge members, you might have received this beautiful Sephora tote with your purchase in store during the first day of the sale. This tote is so much better than the past few sales. The material is more sturdy and the design is just adorable.

March 2016 Favorites

Hello April!

The weather has been great the past few weeks here in Vancouver!! I feel like it's time to change up my makeup. skin care routine!! April is going to crazy, finals are coming up but it also mean Summer is coming!!!! Anyways, here's what I have been loving in March.

Simple Replenishing Moisturizer

Sometimes, all you need is the basics.  I like how sanitary it is, I don't have to dig my fingers in the products. I love how there's no scent. It is also not greasy,  has no after feeling. However, it does get its job done. Long story short, you put it on ->you won't feel that it's on but you see the results. I have sensitive and dehydrated skin, I find that it absorbs quickly into my skin, and my face does not have any reaction to it. I really enjoy a more lightweight, liquid-y formula especially in the mornings and also during warmer days!

February 2016 Favorites

Hello!

This monthly favorites will be a very short one even though we got an extra day in February this year! I was sick for about half of February, so beauty was not on the top of my list. I guess the "theme" for February was to keep it minimal, presentable and fast.

I have really been enjoying the Chanel Le Blanc Light Creator Brightening Makeup Base. It is a yellow tinted liquid makeup base that brightens up my complexion. It also have SPF 35 in it to protect my skin. On the days I don't wear foundation, I will still use this to brighten up my face so my skin doesn't look dull. Then I will dust on some translucent powder to set it and I'm good to go. I really notice a difference when I use this when I was sick it helped me look less like a zombie.

In addition to brightening up my face, I would dust on my Chanel Sunkiss Ribbon Blush to make myself look more alive and awake. I really like how natural the colours are when I swirl them together. I did a review on the blush earlier in February, here's the link to the post if you are interested.

Lastly, it's a new product for me. I have been waiting to get my hands on the Sephora Give Me Some Nude Lip Kit. It was sold out for so long and one day I saw two kits at the check out line. From the kit, I finally get to try the Nars Lipstick in Dolce Vita. It is a sheer dusty rose color and I fell in love with the color after the first swatch. I can't believe it took me this long to try out this lipstick. This is definitely an everyday color for me. I find that it enhances my natural lip color, not bold at all. It is not drying and feels comfortable on the lips. Since the color is close to my lip color, I don't have to worry about retouching up though out the day. As it fades, it is not patchy and not that noticeable. Love it!!

Like a said, my aim for February was to keep the makeup minimal, natural looking, and done fast. The 3 products in particular, helped me achieved that, and allowed to be "presentable" even when I am sick. They are definitely a part of my daily routine, especially for school days! I have been testing out a couple new products towards the end of February, they didn't make it to the favourites but you will be hearing about these products soon! Happy March everyone!

Yours Truly,

Ting

[Review] Chanel Sunkiss Ribbon Blush

Hello!

You might have saw this product from my birthday haul on Instagram. I saw this in a magazine around Christmas and I ordered it for my birthday gift from Holt Renfrew before it was launched. I was so happy to finally see it in person! Let's get into it.

The packaging is like Chanel's usual black box. When you open it, there's two velvet pouches. One of it contains the blush itself, the other contains a small angled blush brush. I like how the brush is not in the compact. It means I get a bigger pan, which allows me actually dip my blush brush in the pan.

The brush is in pretty good quality. It's an angled blush brush. Even though it is really tiny, but I usually save it for my travel makeup bag. The brush allows you to be very precise of which color you pick up because this blush contains five different colors.

This blush has the "interlaced-ribbon" design, hence the name. The "ribbons" are made up by five beautiful colors. Including a pale pink, fushia pink, rose, beige, and coral/orange, color. When you look in the pan, it looks like there's shimmer/ glitters. However, when applied on the cheeks, it leaves a radiant, satin finish. The texture of the blush is really smooth and soft. The powder is finely milled, very good quality! They lasted on my cheeks for a decent amount of time, sometimes I forget I have it on until I removed my makeup and saw the pink/ orange color on the cotton pad. (sounds so bad)

Now about the colors:
This collection is inspired by the L.A. sunrise, the color in the pan really reminds me of sunrise here the sky is filled with different colors, warm and cool toned. Like I mentioned, it is made up of five beautiful colors, you can use them separately or swirl them together or swirl only a couple colors together. I like them swirled together, it gives me a beautiful everyday appropriate color. Here is a swatch picture of the blush colors. The colors are quite pigmented when I swatch with my fingers. However, if I use a blush brush, the color does not go on that heavy, it is buildable like any other Chanel's powder blushes.

Left to right: orange, pale pink, fushia, beige, rose, all together.
Please excuse the background color, I had to make the picture darker so the color is more visible on my arm.

One thing I don't like is the scent. When I opened the box, it has a really strong scent I couldn't even describe, till now I can still smell it on the blush and the packaging. I can't really describe the scent but it's not something I like. Another thing that bother me is that I love to swirl all the colors together, but if I continue, the pen will no longer look as "clean" as it is now! I mean, you won't be able to get a clear swatch of individual color, because colors will "contaminate" each other. But that is for me to worry about in the future.

Product Detail:
Collection: Spring 2016 L.A. Sunrise Collection
Price: $57 CAD
Available: The bay, Nordstrom, Holt Renfrew
I believe it is limited edition

Final thoughts...I think this product is amazing. It allowed me to try on different colors with just one blush. The price is reasonable for me, because to me, it feels like I bought 6 blushes for $57, plus the good quality. I really recommend anyone who loves collecting blush palette to get it, even if you don't use it, it's so beautiful to look at. If I can't watch sunrise in LA in the morning, at least I have the palette to look at. I also recommend this to people who are new to blushes, because you get to try out so many colors and the color is buildable so you can't really mess it up. (I feel as if I'm talking about myself!)

Ting

January 2016 Favorites

Hello!

As January comes to an end, I'm coming at you with the first monthly favourites of the year. There were lots of new makeup products introduced this month, I got to try a couple new products! I also tried to go through my collection to get rid of some unused product, expired products, and products that do not work for me.  During that I rediscovered some forgotten favourites!

Chanel Glossimer in the shade 487 Etincelle

First of all, I am not a lip gloss person but I really like the Chanel Glossimer. They are quite sheer with slight hints of colour. It is very glossy but not sticky at all! This was from the 2015 Holiday collection, I believe you can still get it on Chanel's website, but also check the counters! The shade I have is 487 Etincelle, which is a dark (in the tube) burgundy/ berry colour with gold glitter. On the lips, the colour is not opaque, only a hint of the colour, looks pretty natural! The gold glitter was my biggest concern; however, you don't really feel the glitter on the lips, but the glitter catches the light beautifully. I love this so much because I can put it on without a mirror and because it's sheer, it's low maintenance! It also adds colour to my everyday neutral makeup routine. I also recommend this to someone who wants to try darker colour but is afraid of the "in your face" bold lip colour.

Swatch time! Left to right: lip liner, lip liner + gloss, Gloss
The color looks more berry/ burgundy in person and on the lips!

Jordana Lip Pencil in 37 Cabaret

During the colder days when I want a bolder/ darker lip colours I will fill my lips using this liner and add apply the Chanel Glossier on top. This lip liner is less than two dollars but I like it more than some of the higher end lip liners. This stays on the lips without sliding around, bleed but it also does not try out the lips. It is really pigmented, it glides on the lip without tugging. Also, it also doesn't settle in the crease of the lips!

City Color HD Powder

I received this awhile ago in an IPSY bag, I used it a couple times and then forgot about it. I was not used to using loose powders, I find that it gets messy easily. I rediscover this when there was the face "baking"trend on youtube later last year. Since then I have been using this everyday to set my under eyes. Instead of using a big powder face brush, I use smaller brushes so the powder wouldn't go anywhere. I always have problems with my under eyes concealer creasing through out the day, super annoying!!! Now I would put on concealer around the eyes, then lightly dust this powder on the areas with concealer with a fluffy eye brush.  Also adding Foxy (pale yellow shade) from Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette, on the eye area. Let it set while I do my brows, set my face make up, etc about 5 minutes. I will lightly dust more HD powder on the eye area and pat away some "creasing". I notice my concealer, eye shadow stopped slipping around and stayed all day with this trick. This trick also works making ur lip color last all day!

BareMinerals Powder Foundation

Sometimes I don't want to put on a full face of makeup, or I don't have time to do so. I would just put concealer around my eyes i.e., follow the trick I just talked about, then applying the powder foundation all over. the coverage is amazing! It allows my makeup to look natural while presentable! It saves me so much time!

Chanel Joues Contraste Lumiere Highlighter

I believe this is also from the 2015 Holiday Collection. I'm not sure if this is limited edition, but I hope not! If you read my posts before, you might know I like how my makeup product can be very versatile. I like how I can using my products as many ways possible. For example, I can do almost a full face of makeup using just the Urban Decay Naked Basics. Anyways back to the highlighter. Honestly, I over looked this product when I saw the Holiday Collection. It looks blah to me, I wasn't sure what it is supposed to be, the color is not like a typical highlighter, looks more like a very light bronzer to me. The makeup artist at the counter tried this on me and told me how I can use this product, I was hooked! There are many ways I use this product like I said before. First, I use it as a highlighter on my nose, and the top of my cheek bones. Second, I use it as eyeshadow, it's very neutral and it catches the light. For a quick neutral eye look, I put this on like eyeshadow then I line my eyes and I'm done! Love Love Love this product!!

That's everything I can remember, short and sweet! I really enjoyed January, many things have happened in a positive way! Good start to the year (or am I just biased because it's my birthday month)?! I hope everyone is still enjoying the new year! Share with my what you have been loving for January!

Yours Truly,

Ting

[Gift Ideas] The Wanted List for 2016

Hello!

Happy new year! I realized that I never have time in December to sit down and think about gift ideas for everyone and I also don't have time to shop! So I figured I should start gathering gift ideas throughout the year, since there are other gift giving occasions throughout the year too.  This first post will be about something I want in 2016, now I'm not expecting anyone to get it for me, this is more for my own reference which helps makes my budgeting easier.  Hopefully this list can help you create your own wanted list or give you some gift ideas. This list will be updated through out the year when more products/ collection launches!

Beauty:

Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Exposed

Image from: sephora.ca
Price$34 CAD
A lot of people have been talking about this nude blush from Tarte, they describe it as an everyday blush, it can go with any look and any occasion! I was going to purchase this during the vib sale last year but it was sold out! I'm going to try again this year! I've tried another Amazonian clay blush from Tarte, and I love how smooth and long lasting the blush it! I can't wait to give "exposed" a try! (That sounded so weird HAHA)

Chanel LA Sunset Ribbon

Image from: weibo.com
Price: $57 CAD
This is Chanel's Spring 2016 collection. I have been loving Chanel beauty since I purchased my first Chanel lipstick in Summer 2015. When I saw this blush on the magazine, I knew I have to own it! I actually purchased this on New Year Eve, but there was a wait list already! Follow my Instagram to see an insta haul! This is limited edition and I think it will be sold out really soon! Get it while you can! Let me know if you want to see a review or swatches of this blush "palette" or review on the Chanel Beauty line.

Burberry Blush in Tangerine

Image from: sephora.ca
Price: $44 CAD
I have been eying a Burberry blush for awhile now, I am not sure why I never purchased it. The packaging is beautiful and the pan itself is embossed with the classic Burberry checkered print! Originally I was thinking of getting it in the shade "earthy" but I wonder if it is similar to Tarte's blush in "exposed". If you have try these blushes before let me know which one do you like better!

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine or Giorgio Armani or Tom Ford Lipstick
Image from: Sephora.ca
Image from: Sephora.ca

Image from: tomford.com

Price: $39 CAD/ $39 CAD/ $52 CAD
I've only tried the squared tube and the sheer candy from YSL but I have never tried the rounded gold tube range. Quick review, the Squared gold tube is super pigmented and rich but very drying when it sets. Silver rounded tube is less pigmented, hence the name sheer Candy but it's very moisturizing! I've swatched some color from the gold rounded tube range, I think it's in between the other 2 range I've tried, it's moisturizing and pigmented! As for GA and Tom Ford, I've never tried anything from the brand and I would love to try it out and see what the hype is all about. Which one do you think I should try first? Let me know!

Dior lipglow in 005 Lilac
Image from: dior.com
Price: $40 CAD
You know I love my Dior Lip Glow! I always have it in my bag. I use both the pink and the orange one often! For Dior's Spring 2016 Collection, they introduced a new shade to the lip glow line, it's a lilac color. I have yet to find it in my local Dior counters but I know it is already launched and available in Asia! (I'm Jealous!) if anyone tried it already, please let me know where I can find it or share your thoughts on the new shade please.

New Chanel lipsticks "Rouge Coco Stylo" coming out in April
Image from: weibo.com

I don't have any information yet except it is coming out in April and a few pictures I saw on social media! I will put an update as soon as I know more. Update: There will be a total of 10 color in the collection.

What's on your wanted list for 2016? Best of luck for 2016 everyone!

Yours Truly,

Ting
