[Collection] Part 3: All About That Face 2016

Hello,

I hope you are enjoying my collection series so far. Part 3 of my collection continues to be about face makeup products, so this post will include primers, concealers, and powders. Let's get started right away!

(P. S. I added * to products I'm almost done with)

Primers

*1) Smashbox- Photo Finish Oil Free Foundation Primer

  • It's a pore filling primer, it works really well. It's just like Benefit's porefessional except this is completely clear.

*2) Avance+ Mattifying Emulsion- Pore Refiner

  • It smells awesome! I'm not quite sure if this is just skincare. I will reach for this when my face is dry and my pores are really visible.

3) MUFE- Step1 Hydrating Primer
  • This is great during winter when my face is extra dry, it prevents my skin from flaking without being oily
4) Estee Lauder- Matte Perfecting Primer

  • Like the name suggested, it's a mattifying primer. It is pretty hydrating though, it feels really nice on the skin. I don't think it actually mattify my skin through out the day.

5) Maybelline- Baby Skin Instant Pink Transformer

  • This is really different from all other primers I have, it's actually pink. It brightens up the complexion and has SPF. I also don't reach for this, I guess it doesn't really wow me.

6) Estee Edit- Pore Vanishing Stick
  • My new favorite primer, it glides on so smoothly and fills up my pores. I included this in a couple of my favorites, you can check out my review there.
7) Chanel- Le Blanc Light Creator Brightening Makeup Base
  • Click here for my short review on this primer
*8) Smashbox- 24 hour photo finish shadow primer

  • I find the formula quite thick. Nothing much to say about it because I don't usually put primer on my lids.

Concealers

1) Maybelline Cover Stick

  • It is really creamy and coverage is really good. However, this shade does not match me that well, too light on me!

2) Bobbi Brown- Creamy Concealer Kit (Warm Ivory)

  • It is super creamy and has great coverage. It melts into the skin easily, I recommend applying this with your fingers so the product will melt into the skin faster and more even. Also, because it is a cream product so I make sure I set it with powder properly.

3) Cover Girl+ Olay- Eye Concealer

  • I don't reach for this product at all. The color is orange based which allows the dark circles to be covered easily. Other than that, I don't find this concealer too special.

*4) Rimmel London- Match Perfection Concealer and highlighter (shade 230 Fair/ Light)
  • My all time favorite concealer, and it is super affordable too!

Powders

1) Rimmel London- Stay Matte Press Powder (Translucent)

  • As you can see, the whole thing is beat up. The lid broke in half, the writings on the cover was rubbed off. The powder hit pan awhile ago, but till now I still can't finish it. The only thing I don't like is the packaging, other than that I love this powder!

2) Etude House- Dreaming Swan Veiling Pact SPF 25

  • Honestly, I bought this for the packaging. This is from the swan lake collection from Etude house. It's just a normal blotting powder nothing fancy.

3) ELF Cosmetics- Tone Correcting Powder (Cool)

  • Another powder I really like is this ELF tone correcting powder. It evens out my skin tone nicely, and the powder is pretty smooth. This was only $3!

There you go, all about that face! I hope you enjoyed this post, I have quite a lot of primers and I choose them based on the needs of my skin that day but I usually use pore erasing/ filling primers. As for concealer, my favorite has always been the Rimmel London one from the drug store. I finished at least 3 tubes, and every time I buy a new one the packaging changes. My favorite setting powders are also from the drug store, again Rimmel London and also the ELF powder. I've gone through 2 of the ELF powder already!

*Disclaimer: my makeup collection posts are not meant to brag, I wanted to document what I own and I was also requested to share. I know I have a lot of makeup, I'm trying to downsize and use everything I have, that's why I'm on a no buy!

September 2015 Favorties

Hello,

I know everyone starts their posts/ videos with, " I can't believe it's October", but I really wish September can be longer. I like that September feels like a fresh start, for school and as a reminder to complete my 2015 resolution because 2016 is coming!

Just an FYI, some of the photos are from previous posts, and some I found online because Vancouver has been so gloomy lately, I did not have a chance to take photos for the products properly.

1. Bioderma Sensibio Mask

Sensitive, intolerant skin soothing, moisturising mask - Face
Photo from bioderma.com

This is a Soothing mask for sensitive skin. It claims that it is intensely moisturizing and soothing. It says to only use once or twice a week. I use this after I clean my face. You would apply this like a normal facial moisturizer. I like to apply a thick layer and rinse it off after 10~15 minutes. I like that there's no scent to it, just like the Biorderma cleansing water. My skin feels more calm after using it, it doesn't not dry out my face after rinsing it off. However, I would still apply more normal facial moisturizer after this.

2. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

As you could probably tell, I'm trying to test out products for sensitive skin.  I can't believe I just recently tried this when I have been hearing people talking about this for so long, the formula is great , no scents , no bubbles just  gently cleaning the face. It takes out my make up residues like  no other face wash.

3. Kao Steaming Eye Mask

I got this in Japan over the summer, but you can find this almost any where. This has been such a popular product  and I totally understand why! It is a steaming eye mask that helps sooth your tired eyes. Every time I stay up late at night  or when I have been using my phone, laptop  for a long time, my eyes gets very dry and sore. I will just spend 10 minutes, have the mask on and relax. I find that it helps me sleep better  or allows me to to continue my day without dry tired eyes. I also recommend this to any one who goes on the plane often, especially long distance. This works so well on the plane and prevents my eyes being dry and uncomfortable.

A more detailed review will be on the blog soon.

4. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

I just posted my review on this last week, you can read it here if you have not already.  I have been using this every single day and it definitely got rid of my dry patchy lips.  Now, I can't sleep without putting this on.

Some updates since the review I posted. I have been using the sample size for a month now, I'm not even half way done! Sometimes I apply this on my lips in the morning before I put on make up, I because it lasts longer on the lips.

5. Etude House Puff& Brush Cleaning Mist

I think most of us don't have the time to clean our brushes every time we put on makeup. Sometimes I  feel too lazy to clean the brush. Yes, I know it bad for my skin and it also hinders the performance of the brushes. To mitigate that, I bought an extra set of brushes to alternate. However, I don't have duplicates for all of my favorite brushes. I picked this up from Etude House just to try it out. This allows me to spot treat my brushes after I use it and let it dry. By the second day I'm putting on makeup, those brushes feel like clean, fresh brushes again. The container is a spray bottle, so you spritz some on the brushes and just swipe across a towel or paper towel to get rid of the makeup. For my beauty blender,

6. Chella Eyebrow Pencil

I mentioned this product in my other posts. For a while I have been using my Urban Decay Naked Basics for filling in my brows. Then comes September, I came across this product while I was going through makeup stash. Then I started to use it again, and since then I have been using it every single day. I am so sad I'm almost out of this product. I received this in my May IPSY bag, you can read my unboxing here

I also mentioned in my haul, that this product reminds me of the Anastasia Brow Wiz, so I wrote a side by side comparison post for the two products. You can find it here. The post also gives a more in depth review of the product.

The only thing I don't like about this is that it is so inaccessible for me (Fellow Canadians). Because this product costs $28 dollars and the shipping is $15.  As much as I love this product, I am hesitant on spending my money on shipping.

7. Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Fresh Foundation

photo from myfindsonline.com

I don't think I have ever mentioned this foundation in my post. I have been loving this for a while now, I think ever since it came out. I use this almost every single day I put on foundation. This give a nice coverage but with a very natural finish. It is not a flat matte finish, but there are not shimmer or illuminating finish. It is light weight with buildable coverage. It is able to stay on my skin all day, even in the summer times. I think this is very comparable to the Estee Lauder Double Wear. I have both of the foundation and I find myself reaching for this more than the Estee Lauder one. If you would like to see a side by side comparison between the two product, let me know!

8. Etude House Dreaming Swan Veiling Pact

I talked about this in my recent Etude House haul, you can find it here. I have this compact in my purse, I use it through out the day to touch up my makeup or blot of some oily areas. The powder is so silky smooth and it does not get caught in the dry patches. However, I am still not used to using the puff, I think I still prefer using a brush. But carrying a puff is more convenient so I'm okay with it.

9. Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in #62 Monte Carlo

I bought this from the duty free shop in the Taiwanese airport. It was much cheaper than Vancouver. I don't think this is from the recent collections but I love this color anyways. It is a wearable red color, I would describe it as more of a warmer red color. It is so perfect for fall and winter!

Rouge Coco Shine is also my favorite Chanel lipstick line. I like that the color is not as saturated, it sheers out on the lips, so I would say it is a more forgiving lipstick. It is also quite hydrating but it lasts on the lips for quite a long time.

I also found a dupe for this lipstick from the drugstore, if you want to see a dupe/ side by side comparison between the two products, leave me some comments or let me know!!

Well, I know this post is late but here you go. Nine of my favorites for the months of September! I hope you enjoy! There will be more reviews coming up in the next few weeks. Thank you for stopping by.

Yours Truly,

Ting.

[Haul] Etude House

Hello!

If you follow me on Instagram, you might know that I'm currently on vacation in Asia. One great thing about Asia besides food is the cosmetics and skin care. There's drugstore everywhere. Especially in Taiwan, there's our own drugstore, Japanese and Korean beauty stores. They are usually very affordable, always on sale, gifts with purchase or with super cute packaging. Today, I'm going to share my collective shopping haul and shopping experience from Etude House.

Etude House is a Korean makeup/ skin care brand that is super affordable and has super cute packaging (It gets me all the time!) It also gives you a lot of sample, gift with purchase when you hit certain purchase amount. They also do bundles, where you can pick a couple full size items to get a discount price!

I think I went into about 5~6 different Etude House in Taiwan. Every time I go in the employees welcome me with some samples and a basket. They will also let you know what bundles or good deals they have. Every time I go in and purchase 1~2 items, I will walk out with a bag of samples, gifts and a 4-page receipt. Yes, 4 page. ( they list our all the free items you get). I qualified for membership on my first purchase. With this cute membership card, I believe I get extra gifts and a 10% discount(?!)The stores are really cute, like pink castles. Overall, I really enjoy shopping there, truly make me feel like a princess.

Now onto the haul. Because I bought them in Taiwan, I'm also going to include their name in Taiwan for those who wants to look for them. Also, this is just a haul. I'm only providing some first impressions based on swatching them in the store. If you want a more in depth review on certain products, let me know.

Color In Liquid Lips 五彩繽紛~琉光水釀唇釉

This is in the shade OR205, it's a vibrant orange color. This liquid lipstick is opaque and non drying. I love the sweet scent too.

Dear My Blooming Lips-Talk (Dreaming Swan) Limited Edition
漫舞芭蕾~絲柔雪紡唇膏(限量版)

Honestly, I'm attracted to this collection because it is limited edition, and it has ballerina all over it! The packaging is so beautiful and so cute. It is a collaboration with Kerrie Hess, a famous illustrator, she illustrated for Chanel, Lancôme, Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade, etc. this ballerina collection includes blushes, lipsticks, liquid eye shadow, powder and makeup case! I really wanted everything!

Anyways I picked up the lipstick in OR225. Obviously another orange color. I just love how the color makes my face looks more energized! The lipstick is creamy and none drying. Application is very smooth and it doesn't highlight dry spots.

Look at the packaging, the pink tube with a little bow, ahhhh!!!! Asian makeup always have cute packaging !

Dreaming Swan Veiling Pact SPF 25PA+++漫舞芭蕾~輕柔裸妝感粉餅 (限量版)

This powder is also part of the ballerina collection. The powder is finely milled. No glitter and has a slight coverage. It also gives a natural finish without looking cakey. You can use this powder with or with foundation. I plan to just use this on top of concealer, when I don't wear foundation. It's perfect for everyday quick and simple makeup.

It has the pink packaging again, it also has a cute ballerina illustration on the outside. When you open the compact, there's a mirror, and two layers. The first layer has a puff, with makes it easy to use on the go. The plastic layer provides protection to the powder underneath in 2 ways. First, it prevents you from putting used puff with germs directly on top. Second, it prevents you from scraping or touching the powder by accident when you are opening or closing the compact. Now the actual product, it has a pair of ballet slipper embossed on it! I don't want to ruin it tho!

Silk Scarf Repair Hair Essence 浪漫香吻柔順保濕護髮精華

Photo from etudehouse.com

This is like a hair serum that smooths out frizz, keep your hair hydrated, and prevents split ends. It has a nice floral scent. It's light weight and doesn't make your hair look greasy. You only need a little drop and can be use on damp or dry hair. I am really excited to use this during the colder/ drier months.

The following 3 products came in a bundle discount. At first I was just going to buy the cleaning must, but with just a few bucks I get to try other products too so that's what I did.

Puff & Brush Cleaning Mist 50ml (full size) 洗刷刷~彩妝工具清潔噴霧

This is a spot cleaner for brushes and beauty sponges. I've never tried Asian brush cleaner so I thought I would give it a go. Plus I heard some great reviews on it, so I'm very excited to try it out.

Brush Shower Cleaner 50 ml 洗刷刷~彩妝工具潔淨露

This is a deep cleaner that you can soak your brushes it. I would use this probably once or twice a month since I will be spot cleaning the brushes anyways.

Any Air Puff (Pink) 面面俱到~服服貼貼氣墊粉撲(粉)

This is just a normal puff that you can use for liquid, moose or powder foundation. I'm going to save this for replacing the current puff in the ballerina compact.

Black Charcoal Chin Pack 好驚炭零皮脂下巴膜

It was interesting to see a chin mask.i got it our of curiosity and because I was few bucks away from more free stuff. ( their marketing strategy tho...)

Here are some bigger kits I received for free

Membership gift 入會禮- Sweet Traveler Kit

Just a typical traveling case that allow you to pack liquids and lotions etc.

Wonder Pore Clear Kit 緊囊妙劑~十合一毛孔對策潔淨兩件組

It's a deluxe sample from their pore cleaning collection, it comes with a face wash and a toner.

Gift With Purchase

No- Wash Cleansing Water 卸驚艷~親膚調理潔淨卸妝水

This is like the Biorderma where you can remove your make up with this "water like" cleanser. I'm going to compare it to my trusted Biorderma.

Baking Powder B.B Deep Cleansing Foam 蘇打粉BB深層洗面乳

Apparently this is for taking of bb cream, I heard that because bb cream has great coverage (Asian type) and a lot of other functions it makes it difficult to remove. Also, if it's not remove properly and completely it will be really harmful to the skin (like all makeup). It's pretty cool to see how they designed a face wash for cleaning bb cream!

Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam

photo from etudehouse.com
I've already tried this product and I love it . It has a citrus scent to it. It doesn't strip my skin, but my skin feels clean after washing it with this product. It also doesn't break me out or irritates my skin.

I'm not going to go through all the samples I got, this post would be too long! But you will be able to see them in future [Try it out] posts. But here's an overview of the products I got.

Etude House has separate websites for Asian countries; for example, www;etudehouse.com.tw for Taiwanese viewers or www.etudehouse.com for international viewers.

I hope you enjoyed this haul. I'm so obsessed with this brand and I will go in to every Etude House I see on the street even though I know that all sell the same thing. Let me know if you have any recommended product from the brand or other Asian makeup brand! Also let me know if you want a review on any of the product specifically.

Yours truly,

Ting
