September IPSY Bag Unboxing

Hi!

I know I missed out last months post. But here's what I thought about the August bag in general. I think the August bag was a pretty good bag. I already owned the dry shampoo and I love it! I was really excited for the HD powder, lip gloss and liquid eyeliner. I have yet to try the HD powder, but the lip gloss and eyeliners are really great. I also got a tube of natural face mask, I'm a little scared to try it just because of the sensitive skin, but I'll give it a try soon. I wasn't able to test out all the products fully because I received the bag during my exam  days and I went on vacation right after I finished the exams.

Now onto the September bag...

The bag seemed extra stuffed this month. When I open it, I realized it was just that one of the product was too big to fit into the glam bag. I'm pretty excited for this months because in feel like IPSY has been stepping up their game lately.

1. Formula X nail polish in Ignite

I already own this polish, I love the rich deep red color. It's very pigmented and looks glossy on the nails. Because this is a sample size, the applicator is different from the full sized one. Also, the staying power is pretty average, it lasts about a week without visible chipping.

Details:
Full Size: 0.4 oz  (product I received was not full size)
Price: $13 CAD
Place: sephora.ca

2. NYX x IPSY Eye Shadow Trio

I am so glad this trio comes with neutral colors even though they are shimmery. During application, there was not much fall outs. The colors are pigmented and pairs well with each other. I really appreciate how IPSY included a trio instead of a single shadow.

Details: Only available for IPSters

3.  Tre'StiQue Mini Matte Lip Crayon

Recently, I have been loving pencil form lip sticks. I find that it is much easier to control and it allows a crisp and clean edge on the lips. I received a Trestique eye shadow crayon from ipsy before, it was creamy and pigmented. So I have a higher expectation for this. Fortunately, this is even creamier and pigmented than the eye shadow crayon. I love that it is unscented. The color I received was a rosy nude color, I think it is a bit too light for me to wear it on its own. I would put a gloss over it or use a lip pencil first then apply a thin layer on top.

Details:
Size: 0,2 oz, they did not specified how much product the full size contains
Price: $28 USD (Full size)
Place: https://trestique.com/products/lip-crayon

4. Acure Organics Unscented Argan oil face and body wipes

I am loving this product. I'm so glad this is full size! I have been using it everyday since I got it. This is more gentle than my long time favorite makeup removing wipe, the Kirkland from Costco. I can use this on my eyes and it doesn't sting my eyes. I love that the sheets are thin, which makes the sheets more flexible. After removing the makeup, my face feels moisturized but not greasy. On the packaging, it says that you do not need to wash your face after using these towelettes, but I still do, just in case. Another great thing is that it does not break out my face like some of the makeup removing wipes I tried before.

Details:
Size: 30 wipes (full size)
Price: $6.99 USD, On sale now for $3.50 USD
Place: http://www.acureorganics.com/product-p/050.htm

5. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration

It is a thick moisturizer that is not too greasy. In the description, it says this is meant for head to toe. However, I don't like it on my face, I like lighter formulas on the face. Having said that, I love it everywhere else besides the face. As the weather transitions into autumn, my skin has been very dry. I usually apply this on my skin in the morning, it absorbs quickly and it does not leave any sticky residue.

Details:
Size: 2oz, 6oz, 12oz
Price: $15, $37, $48CAD
Place: http://www.sephora.com/

This is going to be a...

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I gave it a 5/5 because I really like everything is the bag. It was a great month for me!

Ting

[Haul] Etude House

Hello!

If you follow me on Instagram, you might know that I'm currently on vacation in Asia. One great thing about Asia besides food is the cosmetics and skin care. There's drugstore everywhere. Especially in Taiwan, there's our own drugstore, Japanese and Korean beauty stores. They are usually very affordable, always on sale, gifts with purchase or with super cute packaging. Today, I'm going to share my collective shopping haul and shopping experience from Etude House.

Etude House is a Korean makeup/ skin care brand that is super affordable and has super cute packaging (It gets me all the time!) It also gives you a lot of sample, gift with purchase when you hit certain purchase amount. They also do bundles, where you can pick a couple full size items to get a discount price!

I think I went into about 5~6 different Etude House in Taiwan. Every time I go in the employees welcome me with some samples and a basket. They will also let you know what bundles or good deals they have. Every time I go in and purchase 1~2 items, I will walk out with a bag of samples, gifts and a 4-page receipt. Yes, 4 page. ( they list our all the free items you get). I qualified for membership on my first purchase. With this cute membership card, I believe I get extra gifts and a 10% discount(?!)The stores are really cute, like pink castles. Overall, I really enjoy shopping there, truly make me feel like a princess.

Now onto the haul. Because I bought them in Taiwan, I'm also going to include their name in Taiwan for those who wants to look for them. Also, this is just a haul. I'm only providing some first impressions based on swatching them in the store. If you want a more in depth review on certain products, let me know.

Color In Liquid Lips 五彩繽紛~琉光水釀唇釉

This is in the shade OR205, it's a vibrant orange color. This liquid lipstick is opaque and non drying. I love the sweet scent too.

Dear My Blooming Lips-Talk (Dreaming Swan) Limited Edition
漫舞芭蕾~絲柔雪紡唇膏(限量版)

Honestly, I'm attracted to this collection because it is limited edition, and it has ballerina all over it! The packaging is so beautiful and so cute. It is a collaboration with Kerrie Hess, a famous illustrator, she illustrated for Chanel, Lancôme, Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade, etc. this ballerina collection includes blushes, lipsticks, liquid eye shadow, powder and makeup case! I really wanted everything!

Anyways I picked up the lipstick in OR225. Obviously another orange color. I just love how the color makes my face looks more energized! The lipstick is creamy and none drying. Application is very smooth and it doesn't highlight dry spots.

Look at the packaging, the pink tube with a little bow, ahhhh!!!! Asian makeup always have cute packaging !

Dreaming Swan Veiling Pact SPF 25PA+++漫舞芭蕾~輕柔裸妝感粉餅 (限量版)

This powder is also part of the ballerina collection. The powder is finely milled. No glitter and has a slight coverage. It also gives a natural finish without looking cakey. You can use this powder with or with foundation. I plan to just use this on top of concealer, when I don't wear foundation. It's perfect for everyday quick and simple makeup.

It has the pink packaging again, it also has a cute ballerina illustration on the outside. When you open the compact, there's a mirror, and two layers. The first layer has a puff, with makes it easy to use on the go. The plastic layer provides protection to the powder underneath in 2 ways. First, it prevents you from putting used puff with germs directly on top. Second, it prevents you from scraping or touching the powder by accident when you are opening or closing the compact. Now the actual product, it has a pair of ballet slipper embossed on it! I don't want to ruin it tho!

Silk Scarf Repair Hair Essence 浪漫香吻柔順保濕護髮精華

Photo from etudehouse.com

This is like a hair serum that smooths out frizz, keep your hair hydrated, and prevents split ends. It has a nice floral scent. It's light weight and doesn't make your hair look greasy. You only need a little drop and can be use on damp or dry hair. I am really excited to use this during the colder/ drier months.

The following 3 products came in a bundle discount. At first I was just going to buy the cleaning must, but with just a few bucks I get to try other products too so that's what I did.

Puff & Brush Cleaning Mist 50ml (full size) 洗刷刷~彩妝工具清潔噴霧

This is a spot cleaner for brushes and beauty sponges. I've never tried Asian brush cleaner so I thought I would give it a go. Plus I heard some great reviews on it, so I'm very excited to try it out.

Brush Shower Cleaner 50 ml 洗刷刷~彩妝工具潔淨露

This is a deep cleaner that you can soak your brushes it. I would use this probably once or twice a month since I will be spot cleaning the brushes anyways.

Any Air Puff (Pink) 面面俱到~服服貼貼氣墊粉撲(粉)

This is just a normal puff that you can use for liquid, moose or powder foundation. I'm going to save this for replacing the current puff in the ballerina compact.

Black Charcoal Chin Pack 好驚炭零皮脂下巴膜

It was interesting to see a chin mask.i got it our of curiosity and because I was few bucks away from more free stuff. ( their marketing strategy tho...)

Here are some bigger kits I received for free

Membership gift 入會禮- Sweet Traveler Kit

Just a typical traveling case that allow you to pack liquids and lotions etc.

Wonder Pore Clear Kit 緊囊妙劑~十合一毛孔對策潔淨兩件組

It's a deluxe sample from their pore cleaning collection, it comes with a face wash and a toner.

Gift With Purchase

No- Wash Cleansing Water 卸驚艷~親膚調理潔淨卸妝水

This is like the Biorderma where you can remove your make up with this "water like" cleanser. I'm going to compare it to my trusted Biorderma.

Baking Powder B.B Deep Cleansing Foam 蘇打粉BB深層洗面乳

Apparently this is for taking of bb cream, I heard that because bb cream has great coverage (Asian type) and a lot of other functions it makes it difficult to remove. Also, if it's not remove properly and completely it will be really harmful to the skin (like all makeup). It's pretty cool to see how they designed a face wash for cleaning bb cream!

Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam

photo from etudehouse.com
I've already tried this product and I love it . It has a citrus scent to it. It doesn't strip my skin, but my skin feels clean after washing it with this product. It also doesn't break me out or irritates my skin.

I'm not going to go through all the samples I got, this post would be too long! But you will be able to see them in future [Try it out] posts. But here's an overview of the products I got.

Etude House has separate websites for Asian countries; for example, www;etudehouse.com.tw for Taiwanese viewers or www.etudehouse.com for international viewers.

I hope you enjoyed this haul. I'm so obsessed with this brand and I will go in to every Etude House I see on the street even though I know that all sell the same thing. Let me know if you have any recommended product from the brand or other Asian makeup brand! Also let me know if you want a review on any of the product specifically.

Yours truly,

Ting

[Taste Test] Reese Snacksters

Hi.
Today's post is going to be something different. I am not sharing something related to makeup up or skin care, it's food!!!

Recently, many brands have been coming out with fun snack size products. I remember when I was young, I used to love the cheese dipping snack or the chocolate dipping with sprinkles on the side. I think everyone is familiar with Nutella, they also came out with the dipping Nutella snack. Now, Reese also have their dipping snack called "Snackers".Which is a peanut butter chocolate spread with graham dippers.

I believe this is still a fairly new product (at least in Vancouver). I found this a Rexall drugstore. I also saw it at a few Shopper Drug Marts. I don't remember the exact price but it's less than $2CAD, maybe around $1.50 CAD.

Here's what the snack looks like. Dipping sauce on one end and the graham cracker on the other side.

The Spread,
It's quite sweet. It taste like peanut butter chocolate (duh!) but it taste different than a really Reese. If I had a blind test, I would know it's peanut butter and chocolate but I wouldn't guess Reese. The spread is quite sweet, I couldn't eat the whole thing all at once.

The Graham Dippers.
It has a strong cinnamon taste. Goes really well with the spread but I still prefer plain dipper. It took me some time to get used to the cinnamon.

Overall I think this makes great on the go snack because it won't leave a big mess. I find it too sweet for my taste.

Have you try this before? Do you like it? What other snacks would you like me to try next?! I hope you enjoy seeing something different. I wanted my blog to not only be about makeup but also food, travel. Let me know what you think!

Yours Truly,

Ting

[Try It Out] Ole Henriksen, YSL, Urban Decay, Chanel

Hi,

Here's another post on small samples I tried. This time I'm using the photo of the actual product instead of the sample size, I think this will be more helpful. Let's jump right in:

1. Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation

Photo from Sephora.ca
This is an oil free perfecting creme. It claims to be oil-free, lightweight moisturizer that nourishes skin as it gently exfoliates and fades dark spots.

Unfortunately, I had an allergic reaction with this product. My face was really red, but it got back to normal after two days of  not using this product. I'm not sure what ingredient caused the allergic reaction but  if you have sensitive skin like me, I suggest staying away from this .

Price:  $18( 0.5 oz), $48 (1.7 oz) , $78 (3 oz)
Rating: 1/5 ( It really is oil-free)
Would I purchase it: 0/5( it doesn't work for me)

2. YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain – Rebel Nudes

Photo from Sephora.ca
This product clams to be a revolutionary nude glossy stain with all-day 3D luminous effect.
The shade I tried out is 107 Naughty Mauve rose mauve. It's a nice neutral pinky mauvey color. I like that that is not too sticky. It smells nice like any other YSL lip product, it has the same floral scent. Since it is a stain, I expect it to be long wearing. After drinking and eating, the gloss came off but there's still hints of color on the lips. I don't think it is actually all day long wearing. However, it is not drying at all, some glossy stains becomes drying after the gloss wears off, but this one does not dry out the lips.

I think this product (at least this shade) is suitable for people who wants to experiment with lip stains but does not want the super bold or pigmented lip stains. It has a natural hint of the color, but feels like a lipgloss with extra color.

Price: $38 0.2 oz
Rating: 4/5

Would I purchase it: 4/5

3. Urban Decay- Revolution High-Color Lipgloss

Photo from Sephora.ca

This is a high-coverage, ultra-pigmented lip gloss. I tried it out in the shade Bitter Sweet, which is a bright purple as you can see in the picture above. Unlike the YSL glossy stain I just talked about, this one is highly pigmented with bold colors. I am less familiar with this types of lip product because I am not a big fan of pigmented lip gloss. This is similar to a liquid lipstick. The only difference is that it does not dry out, it always have the gloss on that feels "wet". I find that this formula is quite sticky, I had to be really careful so that my hair does not get caught on the gloss.

This is my first time trying a purple lip, I'm not quite sure about this color. Maybe because it is too bright! I think this is a pretty nice lip gloss, just not for me. I'll give the other shades a try too, maybe it's just the color.

Price:  $26 (0.17 oz)
Rating: 4/5
Would I purchase it: 2.5/5 (not this shade)

4. Chanel-Hydra Beauty Creme

Photo from Chanel.com
The following products are from the recent Chanel skin care line. This beauty cream is supposed to provide hydration, protection, radiance. The company says that this product is the embellishing moisturizer for women in search of intense hydration backed by advanced antioxidant protection. It helps protect their beauty and restore their skin's radiance, while delivering absolute comfort.
I find this moisturizer too sticky. It does not absorb as quickly nor easily as I expected. I am not a big fan of the scent.  Unfortunately, it broke me out on the forehead and the chin. My face was really itchy after using it. I am not sure what ingredient caused this because I don't recall seeing "alcohol" in the ingredient list.

Price: $90 (50 g)
Rating: 1/5
Would I purchase it: 0/5

5. CHANEL-Hydra Beauty Micro Serum

Photo from Chanel.com
Here's a description from Chanel.
The first serum composed of camellia micro-droplets is based on an exclusive patented technology derived from Microfluidics. This revolutionary technology makes it possible to create a formula containing droplets of active ingredients whose purity remains intact until the moment of application.
It claims to continuously hydrate for 24 hours and perfectly protect the skin. Unlike the moisturizer, I really enjoyed this serum. It is moisturizing, not sticky. I can't tell if it keeps my skin hydrated for 24hrs. I usually use this at night before bed, I did not wake up with a dry face.  I'm not sure if I am going to purchase this right away because of the price tag but I also have other serum this does the same thing.

Price: $125 30ml
Rating: 4/5
Would I purchase it: 2.5/5

Okay, that's everything I have for this post. Have you try something new recently? What else should I try next?

Yours Truly,

Ting

[Review] Schick Hydro Silk TrimStyle

Hello!

Today I have something a little different to talk about! I received two Schick Hydro Silk TrimStyle razor and bikini trimmers from Toronto Beauty Reviews and Writing Whimsy.

I think it is a great concept, having the trimmer on one end and the blades on the other. It makes it easier to travel too.

The Razor

This razor has 5 sharp blades, the white dots along the rim of the blades are moisturizing beads. They add moisture when it touches damp skin which makes the skin smooth after shaving. I love their blades, it does not irritate my sensitive skin. Because the blades are so sharp, you don't need to go back and forth on the skin, so it decreases the chance of ingrown hair, razor burns and bumps.

The little white bumpy thing located right before the blue handle is actually a stand for the razor, so when you put the razor down the blades are not touching the surface. This is beneficial when you are air drying your razor after u

It's recommended that you replace the razor every 3 month, this razor is compatible with other Schlick Hydro razor replacement heads.

The Trimmer

The trimming side was interesting, I was not familiar with it at first ,but it is not as scary as it looks. The little cap allow the trimmer to have 3 different trim level for different hair length. This side is also fully waterproofed even though it requires a battery. The set came with a battery!

Comments
One thing that needs improvement is that I wish the blades came with a lid.

Ratings
I'll give it a 4! I think it is a cool concept. This 2 in 1 Silk Trim style allow you to use a razor and a trimmer on the same device.  I like the razor more than the trimmer, I don't really need or use a trimmer.

You have to try it out and let me know what you think! Therefore, I will be giving away the extra set of Schick Hydro Silk Trim Style in my upcoming giveaway.

Yours truly,

Ting
